Shiva purana is one of the holy scripture for Hindus. It primarily centers about Lord Shiva and Parvathi. There is 24,000 slokas in book. It is divided in 7 samhita with detail and each samhita divided into adhyays.


Each Samhita has a name and they are as follows:-

  • Kotirudra Samhita
  • Uma Samhita

  • Vayaviya Samhita
Shiva - the formless lord. He is everything. There is no end. On the auspicious day of mahashivratri, it is good to read and worship shiva purana. Shivaratri - the Night of Lord Shiva is celebrated to indicate that Lord Shiva and Parvathi are re-married on this day. To celebrate the occasion, devotees of Lord Shiva fast during the day and pray to the Lord throughout the night, do meditation and read the holy book.
